Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington (Greek American) is a Greek American writer, syndicated-columnist and businesswoman. She is the co-founder and chief executive officer of Thrive Global, as well being the author of 15 books. Arianna Huffington is a journalist, writer, journalist, TV host and the owner of The Huffington Post. She was born in Greece and moved to England at the age of sixteen. In Cambridge University, she graduated with a MA in economics. As the first non-English speaking student, she was elected president of The Cambridge Union' at age 21. Following graduation, she left her mark as columnist in the conservative syndicated media and, with the launching of The Huffington Post' few years later, she developed an online voice portal which offered critical observations regarding the state of affairs. She was able to get many prominent contributors to share their views on culture and politics. Arianna gained fame when she made the decision to stand independently during the California recall election in order to succeed the Governor Davis. She also headed an Detroit energy-efficient vehicle project. She was named one of the Most Influential Women in Media in 2009 by Forbes in 2009, gaining the 12th place in that list. In the same year Guardian listed her among the Top 100 Media List. AOL Inc. bought The Huffington Post, and she became the president of this group. The acquisition included a number of AOL properties at that time, including Engadget AOL style list and Patch Media. Her parents were journalist and management consultant Konstantinos and his wife Elli Stasinopoulos. They were very close to her father, but it was her relationship with her mother who formed her. She showed leadership traits even in her early years. When she was 16 years old, she moved over into the United Kingdom for her higher education. At Girton College Cambridge. In her time at college, she joined the college debating society Cambridge Union where she became the first foreign president and was also the third female president. She graduated in 1972 with an education in Economics. Following after graduation she worked as a journalist and TV host. She also appeared together with Bernard Levin in an episode of Face the music and started writing books using his editorial assistance.
